Hello, My Dears. So thrilled you are here.
Since you clicked “About,” you may want to know a few things about me. I shall list 10, maybe more, maybe not…
1. I love poetry. In many ways it has saved me. Plath, Li-Young Lee, Sexton, Gluck, Oliver, Kafka…and on and on and on….
2. I’ve watched these movies more than 5 times. I know, it’s weird, but when I
love, I love forever—- The Family
Stone, The American President, Working Girl, The Way We Were, The Mirror Has
Two Faces, Erin
Brockovich, Out of Africa, The Breakfast Club, All the President’s Men, The
China Syndrome, Network, & Spartacus.
3. I started blogging as a way to mourn, scream,
& lament about my sister, Kay’s murder.
4. I absolutely- truly- fully am in love with
Helen Mirren, Dove chocolate, Cupcake Red Velvet Wine, Elizabeth Berg, ballet, Project Runway, Indie movies, Vladimir
Nabokov, all women’s stories, my earth angels, my family, grilled chicken, Sex and the City -(I’ve watched the last episode 10 times!)
sushi, dates with Mr. Liverpool, Adele, Nora Jones, & God.
5. My soul mate &
best friend (was) is my sister, Kay. Mr.
Liverpool is okay with that. Love you, Mr. L.
6. I love my own company. Sometimes too much.
7. Lisbeth
Salander, the character from Girl With The Dragon Tattoo is one of my Heroes…along
with my Daddy, Nelson Mandela, Mercy Adhiambo, Saint Shirley, Mother Theresa, & my
sister, Kay.
8. When I’m
not writing, I’m thinking about writing.
9. I identify with the so-called bad girls: Gaga, Madonna, Amy Winehouse, Janis Joplin, & Erica
Jong.
10. I am
listening to Poisonwood Bible & reading Sisters.
This blog is dedicated to my dear sister, Kay, who was
murdered by Mike Peterson on May 26, 2010.
I shall mourn and scream and weep and lament until the day we meet
again.

My Soul Mate, Kay, whom I love love love love…Forever Always for All Eternity.
~~**Every morning, I wake up
and forget just for a second that it happened. But once my eyes open, it buries
me like a landslide of sharp, sad rocks. Once my eyes open, I’m heavy, like
there’s too much gravity on my heart.** ––Sarah Ockler, Sisters

I love you and Kay so much. I miss you both. I hope to see you in January and I know I will see Kay when I, too, meet Jesus face to face. Keep writing and sharing your heart, dear friend.
Dear Kim,
I must confess that indeed, I am not a good visitor on others’ blogs: I look around a lot, but usually I sneak only, suck the content for some inspiration and leave without any visible trace. But after you had inspired me so many times and I have been following you in laugh and pain and cry and anger, I promise to give you some more proofs of my existence on your inspiring funny and beautiful site. Sending you my love from across the ocean.
your Alex
I hope Kay knows how much she has changed the lives of many since she left you. What an honor it is to come to your new site and see her beautiful face and hear your words – albeit they are wounded, but life and love break thru the cracks.

Just when I think you could not write anything more powerful, more raw and more honest – you do, Kim. You’ve not avoided one single shard of emotion and everytime I read your writings, my heart is closer to cracking open. Even after all this time and all this work, I want to go screaming down the street and grab people with your writing in my hand and scream, “See, see, this is what I mean, this is what happens, this is why we need to care! ”
I think of you and yours every day and I am so deeply proud of each of you.
Amazingg skills! Keep it up man, you rock!

I’ve been browsing here at my work all day and my boss would definately destroy me if she discovered I was reading your stuff all morning! Finally now, admin, some questions. How long did it normally take you to create a blog here? And how expensive is it to pay for hosting per month? It would be amazing to have a blog of my own on the internet. Too bad I’ve never really operated one before, so here I am asking you. It would really give me a head start, if you could either email me or respond here? Thanks.
I Love your website. I’m gonna post a link on my Facebook Page!
Thanks for visiting my blog – especially, because through you visiting my blog I discovered your blog here! Very inspirational and simply great! ~Sabrina~
Stopped by from LBS…. Look forward to reading more of what you have to say.

Your sister was as lovely as your tribute to her. May the memories of your time together give you much strength.
Please accept my condolences for your loss.
Kim, For once I decided to take a break from my normal week day work and bustle which meant I had the time to read this prologue to your blog. All I can say is yes, yes, yes, I love your sense of sisterhood in the largest sense of the word as well as your devotion to your biological sister. I think you’re meeting your goals with this blog, that you really know how to access your emotions and experiences to connect with women who may be quite different from you.. XO Karen
Thanks, Karen.

Hi Kim, “WOW! I know what you’re talking about here, Sistah!” This is encouraging to meet a woman who knows how to sublimate when so many in the blogosphere don’t! Refreshing!
~ Love and peace
Oh, I am so, so sorry for your tragic loss. What a wonderful tribute!
I am so sorry for your loss, and my heart goes out to you my friend. Prayers are sent towards you, and your family. What a wonderful thing to do, to create a blog. I will visit your blog again, and soon.
Thanks for stopping by my blog and leading me to yours. My mother was a victim of domestic abuse during her first marriage. She left because she realized if she didn’t, she would be killed.
Thanks for shining a light on this issue and for paying tribute to your sister.
I’m so sorry about your sister…she is beautiful, as are you. I am suddenly inspired to find and wear pink lipstick. This is such a lovely tribute…
Wow. What a sad and tragic story. I’m literally sitting at Starbucks crying right now. (People must think I’m an idiot!) Anyhow, you’re a great sister, you are so dedicated and loving. This a beautiful way to keep her memory alive. I’ll definitely keep reading. You’ve touched me with one page! I’m going to find you on facebook and twitter, too! ~Pam
I am really moved by what you are doing here in memory of your sister. I lost my brother and though it was unexpected I have no idea the torture and torment you must feel because of the murder. It confounds my mind and through your pain I pray that you will find so much beauty and love because that is all God can give you.
Missy,
Yes, I trust in God.
& Believe me, it is very hard to do this…..
Since I am so much Less on earth w/out my dear Sister.
Thank you for your kind words.
So sorry to hear about your brother.
The void will Never be filled.
xx K.
Thank you for finding my blog and leading me to this amazing tribute to your sister Kay. Your blog is such a wonderful way for people to get to know this beautiful woman that was taken too soon.
Kim,
I stumbled upon this site after you left a comment on mine. Curious to see what My Inner Chick was all about, I looked around and started reading. I liked what I was reading, and then clicked on the About tab. I’m absolutely stunned and shocked, deeply moved and touched, and yet likewise inspired to know the underlying reasons for this site. So very, very sorry for your loss.
I can’t help but think your sister is smiling at you, proud of what you’ve done to keep her memory alive within you and those you love, and to introduce her to everyone else who likewise stumbles upon your blog, whatever their reason.
Humbly,
Phil
—Thanks, Phil,
I appreciate your kind words greatly
What a lovely tribute blog to your sister. So glad you visited my blog from LBS so I could find you!
You know I can never come to your Blog without looking at those pictures of your sister and feeling sickened by what happened to her. It really is so hard to fathom. That you keep her memory and spirit alive like this is wonderful. She was loved, and that is often the best thing we can say about ourselves
What a beautiful woman. I am so glad you share her story here but I could not be more sorry that you have to. I lost a daughter unexpectedly and, although I know our situations are very different, I know the pain of intense grief and the healing that can come from writing through it and sharing memories. So glad you are writing for her.

Kim, what a wonderful service you’re doing here! Everything I’ve read about domestic violence points to murder as the too-often outcome. I’m so sorry for your loss. Your sister must have been a very special individual, and I know you miss her. Carry on, and let’s pray others who are in that situation can unshackle themselves from the agony and terror.
