13 Reasons I’m Looking Forward To 2018

~I want to inhale the rest of my life deeply & completely before it’s all gone. —Kim Sisto Robinson

  1. Game of Thrones

Image result for game of thrones

C o n f e s s i o n:    I’m a little in lust with Jon Snow… and castles…. and wicked kings.

  1. A deeper relationship with God

I don’t know why, but typically, He’s the last person I go to when I’m going insane. When we meet one day, He shall say, “Why didn’t you come to Me first, Kim, you could’ve made it so much easier on yourself.”

  1. Learning more about my purpose on this crazy earth

I’ve known since a child, I was created for more than existing. I thought I could change the world. I thought I knew my destiny. I thought many things…but sometimes I’m utterly lost.

  1. One more year of mourning gone

I can’t remember the first year after my sister’s murder. I suppose God gives us a mechanism inside our brains, which allows pain to seep in a little at a time. If not, we’d die from the blackness of it, the abyss of it, the death of it.

  1. Books coming out:

I have a list of books I scribble on scratch paper all year long to read. Sherman Alexie is always on my list & I anticipate books by Elizabeth Berg and Liane Moriarty, Kristin Hannah, Elizabeth Gilbert, & Cheryl Strayed.

See the source image

…in case you’re interested— the 3 best books I’ve read thus far are Lolita, The Book of Ruth, & Ariel.

  1. Fitting into my Rock Republic jeans

Most of you don’t know, and why should you, that I’ve been on Weight Watchers for over a year. I’m serious when I say, I loooooove this program, and if they asked me to work for them, I Would! In the beginning, my goal was to lose enough weight to fit into my Rock Republic, sexy jeans. Well, now those particular jeans are too big. Oh, and eggs are zero points, which THRILLS me. The little things in life are quite significant. Do you agree?

  1. Flying to Chicago in June for Kay’s son’s graduation w/ the Griswolds!

Yes, I said the Griswolds. My family is loud, opinionated, peculiar, half Republican, talk over one another, and I love them dearly, completely. Can you imagine driving 8 hours with these weirdoes? This is the reason they are driving to Chicago and Mr. Liverpool and I are flying there to meet them!

  1. Flying to Sacramento in July to see my boys, bake, and clean bathrooms!

I cannot wait another day, another hour. I love cooking my babies big roast dinners, chocolate chip cookies, peanut butter bars, and Italian pasta. I love when the smells & memories of their childhood ( and mine ) linger inside air like going “home.”

  1. Spring. Melting. Summer. Heat. Sun. Lemon Tulips. Feeling the warm breeze upon my skin.

I’m what you call a “Caribbean girl” who happens to be living in Minnesota. For me, SPRING symbolizes everything I long for, crave, desire. The melting of snow. The sun falling upon my bare skin. Tulips rising thru cold soil. Robins. Barbecue. Shorts. Tank Tops. Resurrection has the scent of colors & music. Didn’t you know?

  1. 3 months vacation from school

My passion is not my job, so with my 3 months off, I follow my true passion: Reading. Writing. Words. Poetry. Ted Talks. Prayer. Did I mention “WRITING?”

  1. The Waterfront Trail

See the source image

This is the last place my sister and I spent our time. At the end of our last walk, she said—“I can’t believe how fast that went!” I said, “Yeah, because we have so much to talk about!” We still do. Oh, we still do.

  1. Meeting new people who cause me to bloom, laugh, & see life in an interesting way

As some of you already know, I have a gage I go by when it comes to meeting new people. I ask myself this question… would you have wine (alone) with this person? If the answer is yes, I will love you forever and ever. Most of my “wine women” have a few things in common: they are interested & passionate about what’s happening around them. They’ve found God. They see the world in uniquely, colorful perspectives. And they make me laugh my ass off.

  1. Experiencing more gratitude

I’ve learned something HUGE and Life-Changing in my mourning process. One cannot move forward, experience joy, or live happily without gratitude. It’s IMPOSSIBLE. Absolutely impossible. I stood in darkness for a long time until I grasped that I was dying while my heart was still beating. I remember the moment the veil lifted. I said, “What was that? I’ve forgotten.” A voice said, and this is the truth, “The Sun.”

      Hi, Lisa!
I couldn’t rate Lolita…Off the charts. Nabokov is genius for making us feel empathy for a pedophile? Do you agree?
Hope you are well, dear. Love from MN. xxx

Hello darling Kim, A beautiful & blessed 2018 to you.. love your 13 reasons. Ah Jon Snow!!! sigh. I did watch Colin Firth in Kingsman 2 and enjoyed him, not the movie so much. I’ve been away for so long, I don’t even know where to begin. My wishes are to
Write, write, write – my job(not my passion yet, I think I’m an art teacher for a reason) gives me no time
    Read regularly,
Stop thinking I have 27hrs in a day instead of 16 productive ones.
Go adventuring with my family, enjoy every minute we have together exploring new places and eating new food, lots of new food
& lessen my anxiety about my chickies
    love and xx

I had to catch my breath with that last line. I loved reading all of these things. I can just picture you with your boys, cooking all that delicious food. I want to drink wine with you. Someday it will happen. I know this. And I am writing down your favorite books and getting them at the library stat. Weight watchers? AWESOME. Fitting into those jeans? PRICELESS!! And melting, spring, summer, sun, flowers, walks, warm air, ALL OF IT!! How on earth do you SURVIVE in Minnesota??

And yes oh yes oh yes… To gratitude. And every single moment on this earth is much more difficult if we don’t come to God first. I can only imagine experiencing such grief without Him… I’m SO glad He got your attention and swooped you into His arms.

You and Kay will have eternity to catch up on those walks and talks. Thank HEAVEN for that. <3 (I hope I can join you!)

Love love love. Every single one of your words. God and Gratitude are keys to see life with an open heart Kim Meeting new people, this is such a gift. Bright days ahead with summer, sun and time with boys. Precious.

As for me, it’s saying “thank you”, praying more often, loving and travelling to meet friends, new people, letting go of things that I don’t need anymore and writing, finding my truth, what I have to say and share with the world.

Sending you Love Kim. May 2018 be bright, beautiful, full of delicious glasses of wine enjoyed with people you love and of words that are a delight for your readers.
