I Was A Casino Girl

Carnival Cruise Line Days!

—Once upon a time, I worked as a black jack dealer for Carnival Cruise Lines. It was during the insanely wild, craaaaazy, big- haired, aqua-netted, charcoal eyed, Purple Rain, Like a Virgin days, and I had the time of my life.

Here is my piece:

Heading over to read now and I CANNOT WAIT!

I went on a cruise the summer I graduated from high school with 7 close friends for a graduation trip.
I was the only one who hadn’t turned 18 yet, but nobody cared back then.

8 young women. An 8 day cruise through the caribbean. 18 was the legal drinking age once we were at sea.
Yeah. It got crazy and awesome. We danced all night and flirted with the deckhands. I was pursued by a darling young employee. His name was Peter. He was a gentleman. We kissed a lot and wrote each other afterward for a few months.

That was thirty years ago and I still remember every detail of that trip.
    Easier times. Happy, happy days.
    Thanks for the reminder, Kim.

Fabulous! I’ve known a few people who worked on cruise ships as seasonal work back when I did the national park worker circuit. I might work on a ship someday as well 🙂
