A Month Without Soul

—Ever have a month without muse, without words, without poetry, without soul?

Well, I’m having one of those months, my darlings.

So, I shall post random, irrelevant things that make me smile hugely and fully.

My muse, apparently, is in a remote village in Africa.

I LOVE this photo of Kay from High School!

I LOVE this photo of Kay from High School!

  • I recently found this on somebody’s Facebook page.  I remember.  I love.  love.  love.  I  miss. miss. miss.  I want. want. want. HER BACK.

  • I heard this song for the first time last week and fell deeply, profoundly, unequivocally in love.  There is something about rising, unfolding wings, & lifting up that thrills me wholly.

  •  One day I opened a book by Sylvia Plath & understood I wasn’t alone in the world. She is my greatest inspiration as a writer.  A genius.  A pioneer.  A feminist. Too bad poetry couldn’t save her.
Plath is Delectable.

Plath is Delectable.

  • Adele puts a spell on me.  Fucking amazing.

  •   I adore Men As Peacemakers.  They are at the forefront of a powerful movement in Duluth to promote equality and end violence against women and children.    Donate HERE!

  • Not sure what to do with your extra bows?  Want to recycle, save the earth?   Dress up your cat, of course!  This is Bizzy,  the red nosed cat.
Weird Cat!

Weird Cat!

—-Darling,  Reader,  Merry Christmas!  What will you do?  What will you eat?  What are some of your traditions?  For the British / Australian Girls:  Do you make mince pies?  Tell me something to make me smile.   I looooooooooooove you.  xx

My muse takes time off for the holidays. 🙂
That is a beautiful photo of your sister. ♥
Andra Day’s commercial with Stevie Wonder plays all the time. She has a magnificent voice, as does Adele. Watched her “Live from London” TV special recently. What a fabulous comeback she is having!
Count me among the Sylvia Plath fans as well. Another great talent lost much too soon.
The British have some great Christmas traditions. Love those mince pies! I follow many of my mother’s German customs, including having our main celebration on Christmas Eve. We prepare a seafood dinner, as per hubby’s Italian tradition, with Spanish coffee and stollen (German Christmas cake) for dessert. After that, we open the gifts, then settle in with the dogs for a Christmas movie marathon. This spills over to the next day when we basically “veg out” and eat left-overs. Neither one of us has immediate family here and this is something we look forward to all year. My house is full of other people’s dogs at this time, so we stay put! 😀
Merry Christmas to you and your family, Kim.

Love Adele and cannot stop listening to her new cd. That is a great picture of Kay. So young. When I was little we opened gifts on Christmas Eve and went to my grandmas on Christmas Day. Now my family and I attend church on Christmas Eve. Our church is well over 100 years old and at the end of service we turn out the light and sing Silent Night holding a candle. Love it! Christmas day it’s all about the food and presents. Have a wonderful holiday Kim!

I am pretty certain my muse has retired. Or run away from home. With my mind.
Christmas here? Hot. Often very, very hot. Salads are the order of the day.
I cook turkey breast for himself the night before.
And for myself I make a HUGE bowl of fruit salad. No apple. No orange. Many berries. Cherries. Lychees. Mango. Kiwi fruit. Peaches. Nectarines. Apricots. And more.
And I start my day with a glass of bubbles. (Unless I am doing a shift on the crisis line when the bubbles have to wait.).
    The cats get gifts too.
Hugs to you sweet Kim. You are much loved.

OH how I adore that picture of Kay! You know, I’ve been searching for the Sacred Season for a few weeks, and well… not finding it. I’ve come up frustrated and numb. I HATE when that happens, don’t you? Uninspired when you are trying to be inspired.

Life can crash into us- in the most ridiculous and profound ways. Last week was ridiculous. This week- profound. Peace is setting in. God is moving… I feel it. I feel Him.

I am often praying for you while touching Kay’s cross and talking to her… I glance at it now and smile, touching it gently once again and I well up in tears.

OH, how I cannot WAIT to meet her. To meet YOU.

Someday. I just know it will happen.

Wow, that song I Rise Up is incredible. I’ve never heard it before so thank you for sharing. For the holidays, we’ll go to Colorado to see most of my family. And (!!) Tucker will get to go snow tubing in the Rockies so I really look forward to that. Deciding on whether to try teaching him to ski yet. Love to you.

Merry Christmas, dear Kim! I so love that photo of Kay, and I can see how you do, too. Silly kitty — Dallas would never cotton to being “bowed”!! As for the Muse, why, I think they ALL take off during the holidays — nothing interesting about writing Christmas cards, you know.

I expect a rather quiet Christmas here. We’ll do Mass on Christmas Eve and stuff our faces with turkey and its trimmings the next day. Oh, and watch football, perhaps sneak a nap, open presents, and, if it’s as warm as they say, take a nice walk! We never take down the decorations until after the New Year (traditionally, Epiphany). Hugs to you from grey/gloomy Central Illinois! xxxx

For not having your muse around, you still come up with a wonderful post. All sorts of goodies here. But I know what it’s like to feel like your creativity is sapped, so I hope you get your mojo back. Surely a cute kitty covered in bows is a step in the right direction!

Kim, maybe your muse is at a warm Caribbean beach recharging with a long cold drink. Meanwhile, here’s a joke I just heard:
    Knock knock.
    Who’s there.
    Broken pencil.
    Broken pencil who.
    Never mind, it’s pointless.
xxxxxxMerry Christmas to you and your family!!! xxxxxxxx

Kim, yep, we make mince pies in Australia. Here’s a photo of the band you so kindly sent me. I want you and your family to know I wear it every day and I never take it off. I like people to notice the band, and when they do I think of you and Kay and your family and all the women who have experienced domestic violence or are experiencing it now.

Love you loads, our beautiful leader xx

Hi Kim, I must read the Belle Jar. I’m missing out, truly. I love that photo of Kay. It’s fantastically candid. Thank you for sharing your favorite music. I’m obsessed with Adele’s Hello. Some people say they are tired of it. I say, what? How could anyone tire of that voice! Andra’s Rise Up is beautiful!! I’ve never heard of her and what an amazing voice.

My kids will be here on Tuesday! My traditions are always changing. This year I’m cooking on Christmas Eve. I’m still getting organized and doing last minute shopping. I will send you my left over bows for Bizzy. Merry Christmas, Dearest Kim. I love you!!

Love the picture of Kay, the Bizzy Bow Cat, the songs.

    Mostly I love your heart.

This year will be all about our last family Christmas before our first child goes off to college next fall. I might tear up a time or two. But it’s all good. So good.

This is such a busy time of the year, so it’s no wonder many of us find our Muse taking a vacation from inspiring us. I’m looking forward to spending a day backing with my sister early next week and drinking a ton of booze in the process 😉

    Hey Kim,

Randomly random is fine with me. At least your randomness is not incoherent, disjointed drivel like I write.

As for Adele, one moment, please….Argggghhhh!!!…please make her stop!!!! 🙂

On Christmas Day, I shall be online most of the day to be there for others. Others, whether they be lonely or just want to escape the Christmas Day family arguments! I spend most Christmas Days by myself and thus, a positive focus on others, hopefully helps them and me.

Bless you and have a good one! 🙂 xx

You must be my muse as I speak about you daily to my Pete!
Blessings and love to you my sweet friend from Duluth!

My muse left with 2 dud computers this week, but I saved this in my queue because your randomness is better than most anyone else.
I’m still dealing with tech issues, which puts a damper on everything for me, but our son and his family are coming this weekend for our ‘family Christmas’ with them. I miss the old days when we were all together at the same time, but I’ll take them anyway and anytime I can get them.
I hope you have a wonderful holiday, Kim.

Love this photo of Kay – she is so beautiful…
Can’t wait to have a break. I found it hard to find the Spirit of Christmas this year. Still looking for it, in the middle of gifts wrapping and more gifts to get done. I wish we would want to share other things that gifts.
Being together is already the best gift ever!

Yes, I do have times where I find it very hard to write. I love your decorated cat! And that is a beautiful photo of Kay. Yes, we do have mince pies at Christmas. And fruit cake. And plum pudding. And turkey. And glazed baked full leg of ham. And sunshine, and heat, and sweating, and the beach, and the need to wear sunglasses even inside, and fatigue and carols and Jesus and joy. Merry Christmas to you, Kim, and to all your family both here and with Jesus xx

I love Adele, too. And I just discovered Andra Day in that commercial she does with Stevie Wonder for Apple. I fell in love with her voice right then and there. In fact, the song they perform inspired my latest post, where I also included a video of them singing the song, Someday at Christmas. I get emotional just thinking about their rendition.

    Merry Christmas, my friend.

Ha! We enjoyed our family brunch, opened presents then watched films. Haven’t made mince pies this year, but I’ve eaten a couple. YARM! I went through quite a funk before Christmas, so I understand what you mean here. You and I both know how hard the holidays are when there is an empty chair at the table. I’m glad you were able to find things to bring back your smile. My pugs always make me grin. When Im feeling down, I curl up with them on the sofa and it helps restore my inner peace. Also, for Christmas my husband gave me those calming therapy adult coloring books—and I LOVE them! it really helps me take my mind off my worries and relax. Do you have any of these? I highly recommend them!
