Australia, Amy Winehouse, & Aspergers

     ((((( I Loooooooove Urvashi Agarwal! ))))

Greetings from snowy, chilly,  ridiculously slippery Duluth, Minnesota.

The good news is, I’m traveling to Australia today,  virtually,  of course, guest hosting on GO BAKE YOURSELF!

I love Urvashi Agarwal

I love Urvashi Agarwal

I will be featuring one of my families all-time-favorite delicacies:  Saltine Toffee.  Mmmmmmmmm. Yesssssssss.  Baaaby. These little gems are abundantly addictive,  darlings.   Want to know the best part, though?  Giving them away to my friends!

Lush Saltine Toffee!

Please, will you click over to say hello to the fabulous 17 year old Urvashi, type up a comment, & copy down this decedent,  SIMPLE, amazing recipe.

          ((( I Loooooooooooove Ellen Gregg! )))

I heard ELLEN‘S sexy, smooth, textured  voice last week and fell in deep, endless, girly love. I emailed her immediately,

“Pleeeeeease read my poem, BACK TO BLACK

Amy Winehouse

She said,  “Yes!”

ELLEN is a healer, writer,  guru,  blogger,  and actress.  Thank  You,  Sweets!  You made my poem better.

Okay, I admit it,  I’m a bit jealous of this new writer I discovered.  She rocks like Gaga.  Her words are like butter.  She makes my bones ache.   Even more than that….

I love this freshly pressed piece of her:   He Has Aspergers & Everything Else I Never Wated To Hear About My Son

Samara… oh do I love thee. I get it. Really do. Her words are powerful enough and smooth enough to drench even the hardest of hearts with her oozing honey. I’m sure you read her story over at Sisterwives, yes? I am still shaking from that one. And? Praying for her.

Off to go do some listening and reading!! I have MISSED you babe!! Was hoping you were okay… and not buried in the snowbanks.

Recipe… There are so many which make my world a better place. For the moment, I will go with gingerbread, although cheesecake is in second by a nose and 25 degrees.

Writer. Ugh, you do ask the hard ones. I go back to Chaucer and Homer on a regular basis. Talk about being born in the wrong century.

Book. For the moment, the new ones which will be out for Christmas shopping!

Person. Going to keep that one on the sly until I am certain. 😉 Cheeky. I know.

I am sending you the degrees we are above freezing with warm hugs from breezy Texas. Big MUAH!

    Love oodles,

I literally leaned forward and squealed when I read you were coming to Australia, scared my colleagues, by the time they looked at me, I was frowning realizing you were just virtually. Sigh! Whirlwind of emotions. LOL! Great recipe on the delightful CCUs blog, I read it on my phone the other night, but commenting is near impossible, so will do today. 🙂 Favorite recipe – the very recipe I am preparing at the time. 🙂 Writer/book, dont know that I have one, but I am just about to read Graces Guide Book, one of my fave YouTubers & Stand & Deliver which is about 50 years of the National Press Club, my workplace. Person who turns me upside down, inside out, actually most of my inner circle. Awesome post, stay warm my lovely. Happy weekend to you. xo

Dear Kim, I visited Urvashi´s blog and left a comment and took a look at your wonderful Saltine Caramel treat – you post the most comforting dessert recipes! Love the way you describe them too!
My favorite books right now are all the books form Ferdinand von Schirach – he is a criminal lawyer who practices in Berlin and who has published a few extremely interesting books such as “Crimes”, “The Collini Case”, and “Guilt” – I read them all, re-read them again and again while I was in hospital last month – I was and am still fascinated by his writing and I went to listen to one of his book presentations two weeks ago – he is one of the most charming and humble persons I have ever met.

Thank you for all your inspiration, dear friend!
    Stay warm, andrea

I LOVE this cake recipe and I usually don’t like cake. But this recipe makes my taste buds dance. And it’s soooo quick and easy.

    Chocolate Crazy Cake

    3 C. flour

    1/2 C cocoa

    2 C water

    2 tsp white vinegar

    2 C sugar

    2 tsp baking soda

    1C oil

    2 tsp vanilla

Sift dry ingredients together in a 9 by 13 inch cake pan, then mix all liquid ingredients together. Make 2-3 holes in the dry ingredients and whisk in the liquids. Bake @ 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes. Top with your favorite frosting.

And here are two frosting recipes that I LOVE.

    2 tablespoons butter

    3 tablespoons milk

    1/2 cup packed brown sugar

    1 cup confectioners’ sugar

    1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter, and mix in 3 tablespoons milk and brown sugar. Boil vigorously for 1 minute.
Remove from heat, and beat in 1/2 cup confectioners’ sugar. Cool slightly, and beat in the vanilla and remaining 1/2 cup confectioners’ sugar. Add more milk if the mixture is too thick.

8 oz container coolwhip 4 oz serving instant pudding of your choice, cut down on 1 c milk to pudding. Wisk together to make a light fluffy easy frosting.
