In Memory of Kay

Silence Is A Killer

–Your silence will
not protect you.
–Audre Lorde

Your face is fading.

I see the outline inside my mind.

Eyes  Ears.  High cheek bones.  Your perfect nose.

I am afraid to lose you.
I am terrified of letting go.

Your hair covers me like a dark water.

The long strands caught between my teeth.

I see your smile from a distance like a pink thick fog.

In my dreams, you are unreachable, untouchable.

Always sitting on a ledge, an edge, leaning away

From me.

When I awaken,  your
name is written upon my lips.

Your voice lifts thru air like a million brilliant suns.

You will never be silenced again.

You rise up from the soil,
the marble,  the grave.

You rise up—You rise up.

Over and over

Every.   Single.   Day.

My sister, Kay, was murdered by her husband on May 26, 2010.  The world darkened & shook to its core…

~~Dear,  Reader,  finish this sentence: My name is _______.     I live in _______.      I will never be silent about________.

xxXx

You know *I’m* not silent about domestic violence. Not any of it.

We all have to whisper it, and talk about it, and scream it from the street corners, until it is no more.

Kim, your love for Kay resounds like a million golden trumpets; vibrant, shimmering, pure.

Kay’s voice will never be silent, as long as you are speaking up for her.

Your voice will never be silent, because when you speak – for yourself, and for Kay – masses hear your roar. And your whisper, too.

The more you speak up, the better your message is heard.
