Such a powerful walk! The signs along the way were no-nonsense truths that rocked me to the core. There I was, walking happily next to my hubby who didn’t complain one bit that I made him walk in the rain, and came face to face with the cold hard facts and realities that women are still trapped, still oppressed, still in pain.
I remember when I first started to read your blog. It was last summer. You’d written about how to write an awesome blog, and one of your key points was to have a cause. I didn’t have one. What would it be? A girl who used to drink? What is the “cause”? A girl who was a stripper? What is the “cause”? But, through some amazing grace from God I now have one. Just loving on women who are trapped, who feel undervalued and unappreciated and ignored. I’m going to go back into the strip clubs to spread a message of love! I’m not sure just how yet, but I know this is it!
You are a pioneer, a rebel, a soldier, a true inspiration. I dream of one day making the impact you are making. I’m so glad we got to meet!! And I got to meet your dad! And, was that cake made by your mama? I didn’t get to have a piece but it sure looked outrageous!!
Keep spreading to LOVE!!!!!!!

This was amazing, the signs are a great addition and I am so proud of you and all the walkers for doing this. I read through your blog yesterday and my heart was cracked for you and your family, from experience I know how very difficult it is to fight through to some new normal after violence. That this is your response, is an incredibly loving tribute.
I hope you don’t think I am being condescending in saying I am proud of you for what you are doing. I am both a victim of domestic violence who escaped and a victim of violent crime who lived, I speak now in prisons throughout my home state in a program called Victim Impact.

Starting a revolution does not necessarily mean taking over a country. A revolution can be big, like a coup d’etat, or small, like rallying for a Christmas bonus at your office. Regardless of the magnitude of the revolution, it always begins with a question about how a situation can be made better, and ends with a group of like minded individuals intent on making that change occur..

Love overflows from your post, pictures, and all the blog comments on here. I wish that we had done similar thing for my mother. We were quieter. We raged on the inside. My grandmother’s redeeming grace was to raise me, it kept her from tumbling away into dark places in her mind. Her way of dealing was to fight for me, quietly tell me about my mother, and show me grace when there were none in the big world around us.
For that, I can be grateful. She is a gift to me, as well as my mother’s two sisters. You are a gift to the world, and so is Kay through you.

Through your pictures, we witnessed who was there, what they were doing, and how even the furry friends represented! It was the next best thing to being there, friend. I’m sure Kay is so pleased, so very pleased. Indeed activities like these are what help turn the world around, and get people to think and understand that abuse, in any way, shape or form is wrong, so very wrong. Both abused women and non abused women receive the message that no matter what, they are not alone. That there are people who support them; that they don’t have to suffer in solitude. I am moved, Kim. So very moved by your actions. What a woman, you are, lady! Without a doubt, you are the person I think of when I think of tenacity, strength, and perseverance. My beautiful Kimmy. It was an honor to walk for Kay and others to help prevent domestic abuse. Talk about revolution didn’t the caveman pull their women around by their hair? This will be my mom’s last walk but I’m glad she shared it with us. It meant a lot to her. She enjoyed seeing you/your family and others she hadn’t seen in many years. I think of the rain as tears from heaven from all the victims of abuse raining down on us to remind us of their suffering they endured & to carry on to help prevent future abuse for women . I believe all women fatally abused were on this walk with us. You are a true pioneer for all women. God has a plan for each and everyone of us. I think you have found yours. I also truly believe Kay is in paradise with all the children and animals that she loves. Our time here is so minute compared to eternity in paradise . You will be together soon and she will tell u how proud she is for all you have done for others in her honor . I’ve never seen a greater love than u2 have shared & u will carry that in your heart untill you two are together again.
Love the pictures u took. You did an awesome job. Let’s get together soon. Love u from the bottom of my heart. XO. K
