Addictable Me

~~~~Chocolate is cheaper than
therapy and you don’t need an appointment
Catherine Aitken
~~~ When I find something I adore, I become addicted
quickly, immediately, impossibly.

I become ridiculously smitten with the pleasure of it, the fulfillment
of it.

Sort of  like savoring
a hot fudge sundae and never quite taking the last bite.

Or playing the same song over and over and over again–but never
getting enough.

Or reading and re-reading Evening or Lolita just because the
language flows like syrup thru your veins.

Yes.  I’ve been told I’m
a bit addictable and rather impossible.

I played  Nora Jones on Saturday mornings for

one.    strait.
year.

My son finally hid the CD from me.

After my Nora addiction,
it was Amy Winehouse,  then Adele.

For example, I muuust vacuum to  THIS SONG!!

I’m also addicted to easy, semi-made cookie recipes.

As if I need more  c  h  o  c o  l  a  t  e.

Anyhow,  here is my
newest, addictable, remarkable, unbelievable cookie recipe.

I’ve already made these stunning sins five times and Saint
Shirley has made them twice…. & passed the recipe onto all of her sisters.

I’m serious when I say, your ass will do the happy dance ~

bon appetit !

FABULOUS CHOCOLATE CHIP TOFFEE COOKES

1 box Devil’s Food
Cake Mix

2 eggs

½ cup of oil

1 ½  cup toffee pieces

1 ½  cup chocolate chips.

(I use an ice-cream scoop ) Place on greased cookie sheet.  Bake for 12-15 minutes @ 350.  Do not overcook.

–I made the yellow cake mix, too…but the Choooocolate ROCKS  Duluth  Minnesota!

Warning:   Do not make these if you are on a diet!pink lips Xxxx

    I am so like you. I’ve listened to Florence + The Machine since last year. Dog Days Are Over is my “start the day” song. Always.
    And no, it never gets old.
    This recipe sounds pretty scrumptious…even though I don’t like chocolate…eeks…I know…I’m like a freak of nature.

    An ice cream scoop? Oh my God. These are sinful but I will try them anyway. I, too, must have my chocolate fix- once a day or so. But it’s good for us, so some say. I choose to believe them. Thanks for the recipe.

    The best things in life are chocolate. Chocolate never cheats on me, never asks me whether the ironing has been done, does not mind my bad hair, big bum, bad temper days. What’s not to love?

    That said. While these look like joy my bum is nearing the proportions of the one in the Bob Hudson song
    ‘I don’t think that I have ever seen,
    a bum as big as your big bum
    I bet you pay double fare,
    pretending that its not there
    I don’t think that I have ever seen anything
    as big as your big bum
    as big as your big bum’

    So I probably won’t be making them just yet.

    The cookies look delicious, and the semi-homemade aspect is so attractive. I would definitely use the chocolate cake mix, if I were to make these, which I won’t, because I would want to “eat all the things!” 🙂

    I’m addictable, too (no kidding). Whether it’s a food (a homemade breakfast sandwich every day for breakfast), or a song (can’t get “Bohemian Rhapsody” out of my head), or a scent (Bath & Body Works Twisted Peppermint), or a social network (ahem Facebook, there’s a reason I gave you up for Lent!), I latch on and don’t let go until something more addictive comes along.

    Wow. These sound really unusual. Cookies made from a cake mix!!!! I’m intrigued. But especially by the toffee pieces. Now where would I get those???? Only thing I can think is to break up Heath bars??? Love the idea of drinking a bottle of wine with a plateful of cookies. Divine decadence!

      Jann,
      yes! the Heath Bars would work….but break them in small pieces.

      The wine is exquisite w/ them. I buy Cupcake Red Velvet…..

      Try it. Try it.

      Kiss for you in Italy, dear. X

    I was stuck on Somebody That I Used To Know – both the Walk Off The World and the Gotye versions. Several times a day, every day, last month. Still like it, lots.

    I am going to steal your recipe but leave out the toffee and pecans. Yum Yum yum. Prolly add extra choc chips.

    My fat a$$ is a lost cause, might as well bring it on.

    those choco-chip toffee cookies look mighty fine (and yes, rather addictive 😉

    I tend to get very obsessive about some things too. Whenever I get a new album I have to listen to it repeatedly until I just can’t listen to it anymore.

    But damn those cookies look good.

    But what fun is vacuuming without some good background music? Makes the process much more enjoyable…if I can even say it’s enjoyable, haha. I’m the same way re getting easily addicting to something I discover/love. I’m the worst with food, of course. I’ll crave certain items from restaurants and find myself eating it once or twice a week. Oops!

    I will definitely try these! On a sad note, I just wanted to let you know how much I have been thinking about you today. A family friend’s sister was murdered yesterday. It wasn’t just her. It was her, her husband and her 26 y/o son. They were all killed by their 22 y/o son. He shot them all with a rifle. It is devastating. Absolutely horrific. Thanks for bringing awareness to violence, like you do!

    Kim, I took one look at the tray of cookies and my breath caught in my throat, my heart slowed down, and I broke out into a cold sweat! Indeed, the addict within making an appearance! Oh my goodness! How utterly sinful! I hereby take the liberty of renaming these cookies, “Better than Sex Chocolate Chip Toffee Cookies!” Oh yeah! hee hee! And the Cupcake wine I am so dying to try! I’ll have you know I’m making my mom bring me a bottle when she comes to Spain in the summer! Have you tried the Angelfood Cupcake wine, lady? If so, tell me about it! 🙂

    ~~~ When I find something I adore, I become addicted
    quickly, immediately, impossibly.
    That is EXACTLY me, and it goes for everything. As you said, it can be one singer or one song playing again and again. It also goes to food at the same place, ordering the same thing and sitting at the same table. I become addicted to a TV show, to a Blog 🙂
    I loved that you mentioned it 🙂
    I tend to have an addictive personality so I understand. I’ll order the same thing at my fav restaurant every week for a year before I think to try something else. And I get over attached to my fav t-shirts or jeans. And don’t even try to give me my favorite bag of snacks and expect me not to finish it off in one sitting. Ah well. I guess it keeps things uncomplicated.
