6 THINGS

6 Things You Don’t Know About Me

1. I NEVER hang up the phone without telling my family
& friends I love them.

2. At a huge rock concert, my tube top fell off. The band
members stood pointing and laughing
(true story)

3. In High School my sister and I were named the “Ice
Queens.”

4. I memorized all of the dialogue from oscar winning film *Terms of
Endearment*)

5. I have multiple copies of Night, Bird by Bird,
Traveling Mercies, Jonathon Livingston Seagull, & Ariel

6.  I find clowns
hideous, scary, insidious, & outrageously, horribly Gacy-likeJohn Wayne Gacy, Jr.: The Killer Clown

6 Things I’m Knowledgeable About

1. Mourning, walking thru darkness

2. Sylvia Plath

3. Old Movies & Old Movie Stars (Monroe, Olivier,
Bacall, Bogie, Cagney, Mansfield)

4. Fitting the right word in the right place

5. How to start the conversation (people adore talking about
themselves)

6. Editing (deleting unwanted words is quite satisfying)

6 Things I’m Not Knowledgeable About

1. Math.  When I
hear the word, my insides begin to shake, rattle, and roll

2. Following directions
(don’t EeeeVER tell me what to
do)

3. Football.  Why
the hell do they keep falling over one another?

4. Lets put it this way, never hand me the map if we’re
on a road trip!

5. Gauging my gas mileage.  Just ask Mr. Liverpool.  My car is Always on EMPTY.  Ooops-a-daisy.

6. ALL things that don’t interest me

6 Things I Believe In

1. God.
Jesus.  Angels.  Heaven

2. Compassion. Empathy.

3. Chocolate (all kinds, except tootsie rolls)

4. I believed in destiny…before Kay

Why were you the “Ice Queens”? Was it because you ice skates? Were frigid? (Sorry Saint Shirley).

I suck at directions. Cannot read a map and always get lost.

    Here are a few examples:

I am knowledgeable about these things, too!

    1. Mourning, walking thru darkness. My parents passed away within four months of each other and I have felt like an orphan ever since.

    2. Sylvia Plath. I discovered Sylvia while in high school and love, love, love her writings.

    3. Old Movies & Old Movie Stars (Monroe, Olivier,
Bacall, Bogie, Cagney, Mansfield) — I’m an expert. My faves are Cary, Jimmy, Cagney, Bogie, Marx Brothers, Lana Turner, anything Hitchcock, Fred and Gene, film noir, (have you seen Laura? fabulous), frothy comedies, and just about everyone and everything else from the Golden Age of Hollywood. 😉

    Six things I believe in:

I believe in perfume! Everything goes better when you can sniff your wrist and be transported.
I believe in tender moments, like him taking my hand while we’re walking through a mall.
I believe in That Moment, the one right after they lay your newborn on your chest, you gaze into his eyes and fall completely, for life.
I believe in scented candles, both for the glow they provide, and the scent that permeates a room.
I believe in passion, in all good forms.
It believe my world is a better place because YOU are in it.

I believe in truth. I hate fake.
I believe in the powdery sweet smell of babies. Innocence personified.
I believe in karma. The shit’s gonna slap the bad guys right back in the face.
I believe in myself. I have to. I’m all I’ve got.
I believe in hope. Sometimes this one weakens though.
I believe chocolate and peppermint. oh baby
I believe I eat too much and blame it on being Italian and sexy. I don’t see a problem with that.
I believe most people are good. I need to believe that to keep my sanity in this recession.

I believe in a lot but that’s enough for now. Love ya’s!

If you ever get a chance, listen to the sound track of Jonathan LIvingston Seagull by Neil Diamond. It’s one of my favorite albums by Neil (I have MANY of his albums).

We always say “I love you” in my family too. It replaces goodbye. Since we never know what can happen, its my philosophy that the last thing I tell the people I love is that I love them…. even when I hate them (because that never lasts long). 🙂
As for following directions and getting places? I was told by a coworker not long ago that I am eerily accurate with my backwards sense of direction. Whichever way we are supposed to go, you can count on me to go the opposite way first. If I turn right, it would be wise to go left!
And I believe we should all live lives that fulfill us. Otherwise what’s the sense.

Wonderfully creative and revealing as well as thought provoking post. I don’t know if I have six, but it’s a post that inspires possibility. Me, too with the gas gauge. Why can’t the bloody thing be auto-filled by magical fairies. You shared that poem with me a while ago, and I’ve been forever smitten. It’s sucks time away as you listen, Andy does it justice. Good one, Mistress Kim. I’ve something to think about.

Kim, I love, love these type posts because I feel they give insight into my favorite bloggers. Upon finishing this post, I feel like the kid who walked away with two cookies, not one, since I know all that much more about you! I find us to have many things in common: Math scares the bejesus out of me, I believe in God, Jesus, Angels, and Heaven, and one guy I went out with in high school called me the “Ice Bitch” when we broke up! hee hee! I will also tell you that Pablo Neruda is one of my favorite poets in the world–I read his poetry in Spanish and clicking on that YouTube link you provided, gave me goosebumps, the good kind! I mean, is there any better way to end the evening than listening to that Cuban hunk Andy Garcia read one of Neruda’s most famous poems? I don’t think so! Thank you, friend! Thank you, indeed! Hugs and kisses to you from me and Roxy Foxy! 🙂

      —Bella,
I have a favor to ask you: Would you read a poem in Spanish on your blog? Perhaps Neruda!?

Ohhh, this would be sooo wonderful. Then your readers could see you & hear you!

The first time I heard this poem, I called Kay and said… “You must hear Garcia read this poem…

and of course, she Loooved it, too.

I do believe we would be very good friends if we lived near one another 🙂

–Can you imagine…….We could take Roxy Foxy for walks together & then go for some strong coffee or WINE! Xxxx

    1. I believe in angels managing to touch our lives when we least expect it, but almost always when we most need it.

    2. I believe in the senses – make an effort to use them all each and every day.

    3. I believe that any day you are vertical is a good day. You have the rest of eternity to be horizontal. Make each day count for yourself and for those who you love and depend on you.

    4. I believe in my family and in my friends. They get the benefit of the doubt and a much longer leash when it comes to my patience.

    5. I believe in passion. Do something passionately. No half-ass approach with anything. Work, play, argue, love, and live passionately.

    6. I believe in the power of music to soothe my stress away. If that doesn’t work, there’s always wine.

Now Kim, I do believe that you need to explain a few things… About the Ice Princess and Tube Top things… I’m waiting!

      Especially about “Passion.”

I feel your passion all the way in Minnesota~~ Does your wife know she has a gem?

—-The tube top fell down…the band members laughed. S000 Not funny.

Kim, I’ll try that my wife next time she has a hankering for a gem for her finger or to wear around her neck. “You see dear, you don’t need that gem since you have one in me!”…

        I’ll let you know how it goes – I’m not optimistic… 🙂

I believe that I can mourn my actions but I can’t regret a single thing I have ever said or done in my life because one little change and I may not have my child or my husband.
