Kim's Blogs

Blog Freak

Post image of I am 70% addicted to Blogging

–I subscribe to about 40 blogs.

Don’t judge.

I can’t help myself.  I read something I dig and quite swiftly I’m clicking the subscribe button.

Again.     And again.     I can’t seem to stop.

Not only that, but while I’m reading a particular blog, I observe cool comments from other bloggers, so I click over to their blogs, as well.

I’m an obsessive compulsive blog freak.

Seriously,  2 years ago, I was like,  what the hell is a blog anyway?

Who is this Dooce chick everybody’s talking about?

Now,  if I’m not writing one, I’m reading one.

In fact, this obsession  is affecting my life, or shall I say, other lives.

“Where’s Mom?”

Oh, she’s writing another blog.

“Kim, the damn bacon is burning again! “

“Just let me finish this one last sentence.  This post might change the  world.”

But that’s not all.

When I receive the blog posts thru my email, I must Read…

Every.  Single.  One.

And comment on…

 every.  single.    one.

Blooooog   Freeeak.

O’ and I adore Cooking / Baking Blogs that have LOTS of chocolate recipes.

No need to verify the fact.

Just take a look at my ass.

That aint granola & tofu, babe.

Alright,  you can stop gawking now.

 Bastard.   Jerk.

Besides  subscribing to 40 blogs, I read blogs on Huffington Post, Skirt,  &  Psychology Today.

What’s that you say;  the hamburgers are ablaze?

Mama needs to write  one.   more.   line.

I mean,  being a blog freak takes time, ya know.

And don’t even get me going on Twittering Tweets.

—Dear, Reader,  do you have blogs you must read & comment on?   What are you most addicted to?

I absolutely love how you always visit mine and comment. You are fabulous that way and I so wish I had time to read every single one too, so my hats off to you for your commitment and passion, not only for blogging, but for supporting your fellow bloggers.

Now, you don’t even know how many blogs I subscribe to and follow regularly. Clearly you are a favorite. But yes – I simply love meandering off via someone’s comment on a cool blog and then onward to another, and another, and……before I know it….I am thinking guiltily of creative excuses because I didn’t meet a writing deadline. 😀

You know how I got here, Kim? Via the Lady Bloggers Society 🙂 I remember – they had this list of bloggers, and recommended we click on just one link there. 🙂 And “My Inner Chick” just jumped out and sucked me in.

Love it. And I really don’t care, sometimes, when dinner/lunch is delayed because I too had to. write. one. more. line.

I am the same way, only I have over 100 blogs in my google reader. I am addicted to blogs about size acceptance, body image, feminism, or just ones where people post debatable topics. I tend to sub mostly to well established blogs with lots of commenters. I find those are the ones that update the most and have more of a sense of community, which I am drawn to.

I took this week off, just to prove to myself I am NOT addicted. I only made it to Friday….Oh God I have a problem!

I did this because Eliane, my seven year old, said last week, `Mommy you are always on the computer.´ I started thinking about it and she is right! I am always saying, Just one more line…..

My babies are growing up so fast and I don´t want to be guilty of watching them grow through Bloggles!

So, Starting today when they walk in from school, I am Milk and Cookies Mommy again, and will not pull Blogger Bitch out until after bed time…

I can´t wait til tonight! Two posts to write, and a week of favorites to read. Dream Baby is out of town, and the wine is already breathing!!!!

I checked out your blog after reading somebody else’s and became addicted to yours. Those days you don’t blog (which are rare), I think, Kim didn’t blog today, maybe tomorrow. It’s almost like saying, “Kim said she’d call today. I guess she was too busy and forgot.” Isn’t that crazy? I’m pretty obsessed too but I think the more blogs I read, the more obsessed I am. I really do need a life but right now, blogging is it. I spend so much time at the computer writing anyway, it’s easy to click over to read a blog.

So many cool blogging friends out there I’ve met, I couldn’t see giving it up. Or staying away too long. 🙂

I’ve been writing a private journal for almost 20 years. I discovered the world of forums online in the 90’s, when I was looking for basketball coaching advice and expertise. That quickly morphed into several forums and bulletin boards (think list-servers via e-mail initially before more solid web-based boards took over). Then I ventured off into more forums and bulletin boards of all different topics. Eventually this thing called blogging evolved out of the bulletin boards; basically personal bulletin boards where the author wrote a bunch of stuff and then other people could comment.

I began following a few of these initially, then of course from those that commented, I found others, and others, and others. Most of my interaction however was in simply commenting on what I read, since I consider writing to my private journal a sacred activity and I have little time left to write blogs after work and all the reading and commenting I do on other blogs – just like this. But yes, it is addictive!

    I just hope I don’t turn into this guy…

Kim, I’m glad you hop around and post comments on other blogs. Otherwise, I may not have found you here. Keep on doing what you do.

Oh, and by the way… I think your toast is burning.

HAHAHHA – Good one. I subscribe to a TON of blogs.. and I will admit, I scan the headlines for something to catch my eye. If I am following a certain “drama/saga” etc or if I just think someone is a super excellent writer – I will stop by. But I do scan… and sometimes pass by some of my favorite followers. I hate to do that.

Which goes to show how important a title and those first few sentences are in order to get my attention!

However – yes.. I have burnt many a recipe by ‘blogging.’

I don’t do well with pity party blogs (although we occasionally need to post one but not EVER FLIPPIN’ DAY) and I enjoy stalking out new blogs. I read over 100. Not all the same day of course but that’s just how many I follow and I clean that out every couple of months! I’m OCD like that.

So, how can I get a notification when you reply to me? I never know unless I come back over here and I don’t do that too much. Is there a way to email me instead?

    Found you through Totsymae.

You are a blog freak; no doubt about it.

I am addicted to writing blog posts. I follow about 100 blogs (some out of politeness because they follow me; but then I learn to love them) but I don’t comment on all of them as I have to bathe occasionally.

Oh I am the ultimate blog freak. I absolutely love reading blogs, commenting, clicking away on the websites of the commenters. And when I like a blog I go to the very beginning and read every single post…it takes a while but at the end I feel as if the blogger is a childhood friend.

Dear Inner Chick Blog Freak – you do NOT have an addiction, you have a calling! Burnt bacon? Ha! Nothing compared to readers needing the nourishment of a hearty blogfest.

Skipped over here from Lady Blogger and happily agreeing with everything you’ve said. I follow a TON of blogs because I promised to but find myself going to the same handful over and over – yours will be one of those!

Also feel like I’m gonna find a few more to follow from your comments section – anyone clever enough to leave a comment here has got to have something going on. Yes, that does include me, did you have to ask?

So it isn’t just me then? My name is Facing 50 and I have been an addict for over a year. I don’t know what to do to cure myself of reading and writing blogs-even writing a book about a woman who blogs hasn’t helped! I guess I shall just have to wait until I get over it – or maybe I shall be an aged single woman – because by then Hubby will have left me – who blogs into her 90’s
Great place you have here. I feel the urge to subscribe – don’t try and stop me…

      Carol (facing 50),

Blogging is such a freeing experience…I believe this is why it’s addictive. One can bitch, scream, inspire, & have a platform to just BE….

      without judgement.

–how cool to be blogging at 90 ! xx

I feel the same way when I blog. It just a space all of your own. It’s something no one can take away from you and it’s a place where you can go to share. I love blogging and I really had to find a common medium for me because I was starting to stay online a little too much lol. But I completely understand. Blogging is fun

Blog Freak? Yes I have that disease too. I can’t read them during the day because I’m like a chicken without a head during those hours. So instead of burning bacon I miss my dates with sleep from time to time. A good blog can inspire you to read and comment until the sun comes up. I have a ton of blogs I love…

Had to stop just subscribing to a bunch of blogs because people wanted followers or because they followed us. Doing that made me feel compelled to try and read them even if I didn’t necessarily like them. So I stopped that as of yesterday. Only subscribing to sites I actually like!

The list I love is forever growing…

Enjoy the rest of you weekend.

I try to cram lots in and attempt to write and read more than is reasonably achievable. I don’t know how you manage to fit it all in.

I pick up new reads everywhere I go and then feel overwhelmed by my Google Reader.

And I have a huge list of posts to write.

I absolutely love blogging – I just wish I had an extra couple of days a week to fit everything in!

Lol – Now I see why you manage to fit it all in! I don’t envy you having to get back into the swing of working after a summer away from it.

Google Reader is just a way of reading everyone’s blogs at once. A bit like scrolling through facebook and having everyone there together. I’m not quite sure how to describe it. But it’s a great way of organising reading and knowing when someone’s posted something – might be helpful when you have a bit less time next week!

Kim, honey, blogging is hard work and keeping up with blogs we love is also hard work! I blame the hurried pace of life, the many things we’re expected to do as women, as well as family members who don’t do their share of the chores. All of this results in leaving us with less time to do what we want; what we love doing. I find myself going to bed later and later trying to play catch up with everything that has to be done. I’ve learned to divide my blog writing and blog reading and most days, am able to get it done. Other times, 24 hours are not enough. So if you see I haven’t commented immediately when you post, I know you’ll understand that no matter how much work, how many chores, and meals I must cook, I will get to your blog because I love it! 🙂 This post made me smile!
