July 21, 2011 at 6:16 pmI guess for me, it’s blogs that seem too commercial. Also, when there’s typos or misspellings. Yikes. I really don’t like that. Of course, if you see such mistakes on mine, I’ll be mortified.
Kim Sisto-Robinson
July 21, 2011 at 11:00 pm—–Monica,
Not to worry.
If you had mistakes, I probably woudn’t have noticed anyway 🙂
I’m a dork like that.

July 21, 2011 at 6:43 pmHahahaha, love this, you’re so funny!
And all true things above. Those are some of my peeves too.
I really dislike weird font. Having cute font as a header? That’s fine. But writing in weird font? Too hard to read.
Also, very long paragraphs. I see a wall of text and I close the window, my brain can’t handle it.
And too many ads, badges etc – cluttered blogs give me a headache.
Kim Sisto-Robinson
July 21, 2011 at 11:03 pm–Oooooh, Alison,
YES, the font! I didn’t think of that one.
But if I go to a blog that has their posts in Italics,
I leave the page immediatly. For some reason,
this sort of font hurts my eyes.
Good observaton.

July 21, 2011 at 6:51 pmThe Capcha pisses me off. The main reason people have it is because they don’t know they can turn it off! Any spam that I get is caught in the spam file and I just go in and delete it!
If someone doesn’t like your blog or mine for that fact, yeah, google “Bite ME” as well as “I don’t give a damn”!
I also hate when you comment on someone’s blog all the time and don’t get a response EVER from that same person. I can take a hint.

July 21, 2011 at 6:51 pmYes! Yes! Yes!
I’m majorly guilty of not having blogged much lately, or commented on others. But I don’t take it personally that you said that because I feel the same way when it happens to me! We all do.
I so agree with the guest posts. I feel like so many times people have people guest post that are not all that interesting. That sounds mean, but it really bugs me. Why be a funny or insightful blogger, and then have someone come blog about what their kids dressed up as for Halloween?
Enough with the giveaways. That’s only fun for two people. The blogger who is reaping the benefits and the person who wins.
My MIL uses !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ??????????????? and I swear on all that is holy when i get my balls together, I’m going to tell her to leave some for the rest of us.
Why is someone telling you that you are not writing your blog in a way they would like it? Can’t they just, I don’t know, not read your blog? This is your story and your space.
Thanks for this post, some things about blogging really bug me and you hit it on the head.
PS- just WHY do some people have 14,000 followers when they are insanely boring?

July 21, 2011 at 7:06 pmYou are somethin’ else, Kim. You’ve taken the words out of a lot of folks mouths and I appreciate you 🙂
You’ve called folk to the altar and have them confessing to these blogging sins you’ve mentioned.
Blogger is so good about having users type in these codes, like it’s some privilege for readers to post there. I don’t know why the blog owner doesn’t change that. It’s such a turn off.
lafemmeroar
July 21, 2011 at 7:23 pmSo right Totsymae. I hate those squiggly letters. I never get them right and after the 3rd time (I’m patient that way) I just give the frick up. I like this blog because my name, email and url are filled out for me 🙂 yayay. I’m lazy and the less typing I have to do the better .
Now, I visit a lot of blogs, and I’m sick and tired of seeing that old lady’s face in that mattress ad. Is it just me or is she the freakiest thing you’ve ever seen?
Kim Sisto-Robinson
July 22, 2011 at 7:09 amHey..lafemmeroar,
Yeah, I remember that old lady!
I agree, I am VERY lazy & busy.

July 22, 2011 at 7:10 amHey, Tots,

July 22, 2011 at 4:48 pmNo, I wouldn’t be the blog police but I do have an interesting one coming up on Twitter. I think you’ve listed some good one for blogging. Funny how you put a lot of what I was feeling into words as only you could 🙂
Joan
July 21, 2011 at 7:53 pmAs a fellow blogger, I got a big laugh out of this one. Thanks, Kim. You are right and I do a few of these things myself. I guess this means I have to change my ways. A lot of people don’t like my blog and are only too eager to let me know. Sometimes I have to remind them that it’s my blog and they always do their own blog. The gun guys just plain don’t like anything I write. Oh well. One of them complained of the color on my blog and a few other visuals. I told him to go somewhere else. This post made my day. I just love your humor, Kim. Keep it up.
Kim Sisto-Robinson
July 21, 2011 at 11:14 pm—My Dear Joan,
—-but they keep comin’ back to your blog–don’t they?
They are reading what you have to say. And they
want to argue with you about it.
You are starting dialogue. That’s Cool.
Even if they don’t like you….they’re reading & perhaps
they may even learn something ….the dumb asses 🙂

July 21, 2011 at 11:12 pmToo personal? How can it be too personal? It belongs to you. It is your voice. Ummm, who’s would it be if it wasn’t yours? So how can it be too personal? Dummies. I do a lot of dashes – you know – dashes because I’m too lazy to do proper punctuation. No, actually, I talk that way. I probably hate major typos more than anything. Of simple words like I read on someone’s blog today – there are THREE of them – their, they’re and there. Get it right, people! I like music on blogs but not to have it blare out so loudly, my ears hurt AND I can’t find the place to turn it down. Some people hide their players apparently. This was a MOST exellent post!!!!! You know you are a rawking Diva, right???? What… does my writing bother you? And ewwww – what’s with that freaky alien looking cow????

Loved this kickass post and I totally agree. My pet hate is that f***ing captcha to verify stuff. Am totally challenged that way, in spite of all my other. ahem, ahem.s. And those ridiculous black backgrounds with barely visible text.
Hmm. Can’t wait for your next!

July 21, 2011 at 11:29 pmDear, Vidya,
I loooove that you love this post.
And I am so thrilled to hear that others DESPISE those damn
Captcha asshole puzzles. They make me INSANE.
In fact, I think that’s exsactly why they were born. HA
xxx Kiss for you.
Amy
July 22, 2011 at 4:40 amI am definitely an over user of ellipsis, but you know that my BRAIN is full of ellipsis, soooooo. . .
See? Ha ha ha!
Things that turn me off from people’s blogs are 1) when they’re constantly trying to sell something via their site. That’s super annoying. If I start reading, week after week, about how this hair product changed someone’s life or how this mascara is amazing, I’m a goner. 2) Captchas. I’m totally with you on the captchas. I find them hideous and annoying.
And this is rarely the fault of the blogger, but another thing that I don’t like reading are negative comments from others. It’s worse if the reader actually engages in a heated argument. It makes me want to defend the blogger and then all sorts of “TEH INTRAWEBZ” arguments ensue. On the other hand, I suppose bloggers are putting it all out there for everyone to see and, if they allow comments, they’re going to get someone who not only does not agree with them (which would be fine), but someone who viciously attacks and tries to show off their nasty! I can get really nasty, too. I just try not to leave it floating out here in perpetuity!
Regardless of what anyone thinks, I love YOUR blog! xoxox

When can I be your guest blogger 🙂 (Are smiley faces banned? What is a captatcha? Is that the name of the weird word we have to type to prove we are not spam? Why don’t we have to type something to prove we are not assholes?) Anyway, I digress — my favorite form of writing. I love to read you, no matter what you write, and that is the truth. I have no idea how you put all those cool pictures, animations and sometimes videos in your blogs, though.

July 22, 2011 at 4:10 pmKim, thank you, thank you for writing a blog post that all of us more cowardly bloggers are thinking but don’t have the nerve to put in writing! I worship at your shrine, you diva, you! What a slammin’ post, sister! I hear you, and I second what you say! For me, the deal breaker are bloggers who don’t show commenters the courtesy of a reply. I mean, I can understand that if you have hundreds of comments on a post it would be hard to reply to everyone, but I’ve seen bloggers with only three comments and they’re still not replying! Really? Come on! Show some love, I say! Another thing I don’t like are the ads and the extremely cluttered sidebars. I become overwhelmed and want to get the hell out of dodge. Oh, and the huge, huge banners that take up almost the entire page and readers have to scroll down, way down, to see the content! 🙂 Great post, lady!

July 22, 2011 at 6:01 pmThat cow is really freaky. I can’t follow what it’s doing. It reminds me of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.
I totally cannot stand the black on black or white on white. Not gonna be able to click there!
I will admit that I don’t post consistently or regularly. But I figure, if I’m posting I’m good. Just keeping up is enough for me to pat myself on the back. Lol. But I do wish some bloggers updated at least once a week. That’s about all I can keep up with.
And to ANYONE who says you are too personal or deep or whatever, WTF do they want to read? So turn on one of those magazine talk shows where real life doesn’t exists and get numb to the world. Go back to sleep. Close your eyes and care about nothing real and live your life half-assed and in silence and resentment and fear! Omgoodness, I guess I had something to get off my chest.
Ms. Kim, don’t ever ever ever listen to those worms. That is all…!!!???:):):)
Wild Child Mama
July 22, 2011 at 6:08 pmOh, blogs that are too long, like, a chapter. Keep it under 800 words. I know there are phenomenal writers out there but I already have a book to read. And I’m lucky if I get to that. Short and sweet. Or extra fascinating. But 2000 words about your family vacation just isn’t gonna hold my interest. Not that anyone needs my interest. July 22, 2011 at 8:56 pmThe number one thing that peeves me about Blogging is people telling me how to Blog. I’d rather they not even visit my Blog. WOW that was freeing, ya know? Felt good.

July 23, 2011 at 6:52 pmOh my goodness I read this whole thing thinking “I do this, I do that! OMG is this about my blog?!” I get so paranoid at times with what makes people not return. July 24, 2011 at 4:51 pmParagraphs, people. Five sentences. Six max.
Do not center your whole damn post. It’s hard to read. Our eyes don’t work like that. Using sparingly.
Your blog should not look like my living room floor. Clean up the mess.
I’m glad someone has the balls to write this. Very nice.

July 24, 2011 at 4:59 pm—Oh, MY God.
I have to go clean my living room floor-
Great points, Julie.
PS. and another thing; I despise the entire blog in italics. I cannot read it. My eyes say NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

July 26, 2011 at 1:19 pmDo not bust out with these 10 inch long blocks of text. I am a neurotic, anxiety ridden hot mess and I can’t sit in one place for five seconds. I do not want to waste my precious five seconds on your 28 page long blog post.
Why do you think I write in sentences, not paragraphs? I don’t have an attention span long enough to write my own paragraphs on my own blog.

July 27, 2011 at 6:59 pmThese are so true! And I totally did half of them. The Giveaway thing really bothers me. Sometimes I subscribe when I see 2 good posts, only to be rewarded with like 100 review posts.
But I don’t agree with the guest posting. I really like to meet new people and I think it freshens things up once in awhile.

July 27, 2011 at 8:03 pm–I know, Stepanie,
I’ve done many of these things and still do…!
