In Memory of Kay

Kay’s Garden of Love & Chester the Cat.

{—-This blog is dedicated with  Sweet love to Chester’s Mama, Maryellen.  Thank you for giving shelter to unwanted kitties & for always remembering our Angel, Kay. xxXX}

—After Kay’s murder, several friends brought over lovely ornaments and plants for the family:

Granite Stones with poetry inscribed.     Pink roses.    Chrysanthemums.    Hydrangeas.    Ornamental Lights.

But one of my all time favorite gifts was a Cat made from smooth stone named Chester.

If you’re from West Duluth and walk or run the Waterfront Trail, you may have encountered Chester already with his high tail, black/white fur,  &  groovy personality.

He lives with 7 other rescued cats and a few doggies.

He hunts mice and snakes and squirrels and god ony knows what.

He jumps out at the most unexpected times from the deep woods and scares the shit out of you.

But mostly, he desires to be petted & rubbed & caressed .

I mean……Don’t we all?

Kay loved loved loved that cat.

She’d phone me to exclaim excitedly,  “I saw sassy Chester on the trail today, Kimmie!”

Or I’d call her to inquire,  “Hey, did Chester leap out to greet you on your walk?”

You could say, he’s a bit of a Feline Freaking Super Star on the Waterfront.

Oh!  And recently, Chester left a beautiful planter of crimson petunias at Kay’s grave-site.

Yes, I know it was you, Chester!!  I know your purr.

So….

This is the garden that  Saint Shirley & Daddy created in their back yard  for our sweet Angel, Kay.

—–Notice Chester the Cat in the center……

—Kay Kissing Chester on The Waterfront Trail.

My sister, Kay- was murdered by Mike Peterson   yesterday. a million years ago.    415 days ago.  The Clocks Stopped.

Kim, I’m with Totsy. Across the miles it’s easy to perceive the great love both you and your family have for Kay. It is an amazing thing! The garden is absolutely beautiful, and Chester enhances its beauty! I can imagine your sister smiling down from heaven as she watches her garden grow and prosper. What a lovely and heartfelt tribute to your sister’s memory!

Awwwwww this made me miss my cat Simon. We had to give her away after Joan’s stroke because she was underfoot and we just had too much going on. I found her a good home, though. She was such a sweet companion when I just wanted to sit around and read. She was all about being lazy. My kinda kittty!

I’m so sorry about your sister. It hurts to lose anybody we love in this lifetime, even though we know that’s the natural course of things.

But you didn’t “lose” Kay. She was STOLEN from you and your family, and I can only dimly imagine, how much that must hurt.

At least you do have beautiful memories of her, and pictures, like the marvelous one of her and Chester – of both Chesters. A beautiful spirit shines out of that picture of her and Chester, even to someone like me who never met her.

      —Beverly,
      Yes, it hurts horribly…
I’ve been writing my journal of mourning &
lamenting for over a year now…
      and still….there is NO possible
      way to explain the pain….
      except to say one’s heart
      actually experiences pain & darkness.
      —-Many lovely memories…
one day we will be together again.
I look forward to that day.
Thanks for popping in. 🙂 xxx
