DAY ONE: It’s been exactly 11 months since Kay’s murder.
11 months since we’ve talked, laughed, & bitched about our weight.
11 months since we’ve prayed together about our boys, our goals, our dreams, and the state of this dysfunctional world.
11 months since we’ve sat at Barnes & Noble reading the first chapter of the books we took off the shelves while sharing something indulgent & oooh-so-fattening.
11 months since I’ve been happy.
DAY TWO: Watched the “Kings Speech.”
Two strait hours of still waters, pure pleasures, & green pastures.
Did you know that
Edward (oops) George the V1 was the Queen’s father & William’s great grand father?
This film is so bloody brilliant that it deserves the academy award in 2012, as well.
DAY THREE: Mourning never ends.
This is what I believe. This is what is true.
One learns to live between the pain, the darkness, the abyss…
I’m still not sure why I’m here…
…Existing between shadow & Light.
DAY FOUR: I’m OBSESSED with blogs, blogging, & everything blog- worthy.
I scan about 20 womens’ sites per day.
I read. I get ideas. I think…..
“Oh, I wish I would have thought of that, or this woman is deliciously insightful.”
But I have my “All Time Favorite” blog…my bit of still waters ….the blog that my blog wants to be when it grows up.
Okay, I’m a stalker, but I’m madly in love with Not Quite Nigella, (Food Blogger)
DAY FIVE: I have a few friends who crack me up.
I mean, tickle my funny bone hardcore to the maximus.
I already told you about (Kim) who sticks black spiders up her nose.
Anything to make me laugh, you see.
But the one who takes the prize in laughableness & craziness is T.
We did a store front window downtown for Kay’s walk / run, and evidentially…. I brought the wrong lights: Blue instead of White.
“My Vision!” T. blurted. “My vision is ruined!”
“What about my fucking vision?” She said again.
I started laughing so hard, I believe I peed my jeans.
Then we were both laughing.
But the laughter never lasts.
DAY SIX: Baked Lemon Crumble Bars with Saint Shirley for Easter dessert.
This is our time together.
This is our magic.
….cracking eggs, measuring sweet butter, beating condensed milk, lemon juice, & pure vanilla in stainless steel bowls.
This is another kind of love.
DAY SEVEN: Easter.
Resurrection. Rebirth. Rejuvenation.
The first time our family met at a restaurant.
14 people sitting together all talking at the same time, ordering, drinking wine….
Always Always. Always.
~My sister & soul-mate was murdered on May 26, 2010 by Mike Peterson….The world weighs so much less….
