Not So Hot Host of the Evening:     Ricky Gervais

An Example of Gervaismean-spiritness…

–When Gervais introduced Hanks and Tim Allen, he announced: “What can I say about our next two presenters? The first is an actor, producer, writer and director whose movies have grossed over $3.5bn at the box office. He’s won two Academy Awards and three Golden Globes for his powerful and varied performances starring in such films as Philadelphia, Forrest Gump, Castaway, Apollo 13 and Saving Private Ryan. The other is Tim Allen.”

Hanks retorted: “You know, like many of you we recall back when Ricky Gervais was a slightly chubby but very kind comedian.”

Bad boy: Ricky Gervais caused outrage when he presented the Golden Globes

There is a huge difference between funny and mean.  Gervais was mean.  I felt  uncomfortable listening to his insults and offensive venom pouring into the audience.  Some are excusing him saying    “It’s all in good fun.”

Reeeeeally?  Reeeally?

If you  assume insulting people in Rehab, Scientologists,  Gays, and Jews as fun jokes, I guess.

Dumb Asses.

Great review, Kim! I adored the same dress. I didn’t watch the whole show, but after insulting Bruce Willis by referring to him as Ashton Kutcher’s dad and the mean Robert Downy Jr. joke Gervais made, I needed to change the channel. I don’t like that blatant, mean kind of humor either. Yuck! Yay to R. Downy for his comeback. I wish I would have seen Hanks’ retort.

I’m not really into who dressed the best or the worst—————— but no one is as beautiful as Angelina
she would look good in a gunny sack. The other highlight was Robert Deniro winning the Cecil B Demille
Life Time Achievement Award. He is a classic actor.
